The Littleton community and police department are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Sergeant Edmund D. Bussiere, who passed away unexpectedly at his home.

Sgt. Bussiere, a respected and dedicated member of the Littleton Police Department, had just completed his 19th year of service with the department. Over the course of his career, he earned the respect, admiration, and friendship of his colleagues and the community he proudly served. His professionalism, kindness, and commitment to protecting others left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind his loving family, including his two adult daughters, Maura and Kiera, who were his pride and joy. His sudden passing has deeply affected not only his family but also his brothers and sisters in blue, who remember him as a compassionate leader, a loyal friend, and a man of integrity.

In honor of Sgt. Bussiere’s life and service, the Littleton Police Department has placed a ceremonial police cruiser and black bunting outside police headquarters as a tribute to his memory. Chief Matthew J. Pinard shared his condolences, expressing profound sorrow for the loss and emphasizing the department’s commitment to supporting one another during this difficult time.

Resources have been made available to department members, including assistance from the Community Outreach Initiative Network, NEMLEC Critical Incident Stress Management Team, and the Littleton Employee Assistance Program, to help officers cope with the emotional impact of this loss.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced, and the department has asked for privacy for the Bussiere family as they navigate this period of grief.
